Tasks
Manage tasks directly inside your group chats. No need for a separate project management tool — create, assign, and track tasks where the conversation happens.
Enabling Tasks
Tasks are available in group chats that have the Tasks tab enabled. Any group member can create tasks once the tab is active.
Creating a Task
Open the Tasks tab in a group chat and click "New Task." Fill in the details:
- Title (required) — a clear, short description of the task (1-500 characters)
- Description (optional) — additional context or instructions
- Priority — Low, Medium, or High
- Assignee — pick any member of the group chat
- Due date — when the task should be completed
- File attachments — attach relevant documents or images
Working with Tasks
Scanning and Filtering
The task list shows each task's status, priority, assignee, due date, attachment count, and latest update without opening the detail view. Use the filters above the list to show open, done, or all tasks; narrow by assignee, priority, overdue/today/upcoming due dates, or tasks with no due date.
Completing Tasks
Click the checkbox next to any task to mark it as done. Click again to mark it as not done. The task status is visible to everyone in the group.
Editing Tasks
Click on a task to open its detail view. Details are grouped into task fields, attachments, activity, and a separate danger zone for deletion. You can change any field — title, description, priority, assignee, due date, or attachments.
Accessible Controls
Assignee, priority, due date, and filter controls use labeled native inputs or keyboard-accessible buttons, so they work with Tab, arrow keys where supported by the browser, and screen readers.
Activity Log
Every task keeps a full activity log showing who changed what and when. This includes status changes, reassignments, priority updates, and edits. The log is visible in the task detail view.
Task References in Chat
In the chat input, type # and select a task from autocomplete. The composer inserts a reference with the task's eight-character ID prefix, for example #TASK-1a2b3c4d. Other group members can click the reference to jump directly to the task.
Task Notifications
You can configure task notifications globally in Settings → Notifications, and per chat from the labeled notification settings menu. Open it with the bell icon in the chat header, or from the "Notification settings" button in Group settings:
- All — get notified about every task change in this chat
- Assigned only — only get notified about tasks assigned to you
- None — no task notifications for this chat
Muted chats suppress normal task notifications. Incoming mentions and calls use separate rules.
